■ Coming Spring 2012 – “The Lion King”

Ballet Intermediate through Ballet Advanced/Pro provides the core of ballet training for all students learning to dance. Each level is designed to provide an increase in a dancer’s challenges, and represents the progression in a dancer’s achievements and commitment to dance. All levels emphasize correct postural alignment, principals of turn out, balance, control and barre and center exercises that become more complex and challenging at each level. The principles taught in each level build upon one another to create a solid foundation for technical strength and proficiency.

30 minute classes that challenge the student with proper technique and fun combinations. Dancers will spend 15 minutes in ballet where they learn body placement, gain strength and flexibility, and increase range of motion and coordination. The next 15 minutes is spent learning the basic steps and terminology of Jazz. These classes are created to prepare the student for the next level of dance.

30 minutes of creative movement and pre-ballet. Children explore space, body locomotion and body part differentiation, simple rhythms and qualities. At first, children learn self-control, body awareness, class structure, tempo and size of movement. An introduction to dance with engaging music and fun props that will help the dancer’s imagination and creativity grow!

A 30 minute class that enables a young dancer to get an introduction to two genres of dance. Children will spend 15 minutes learning basic ballet steps and terminology through creative movement and engaging music. The last 15 minutes is focused on basic tap steps and terminology.

60 minute class that introduces the young dancer to two genres of dance. The combo class is a wonderful opportunity for dancers new to dance who would like to learn the basic techniques of both ballet and tap. The combo classes tend to keep young dancers excited, interested and focused. These classes are created to prepare the student for the next level of dance.

A 60 minute class that is designed for the dancer who is new to ballet or returning to the dance world. Dancers will receive an introduction and overview of the ballet technique and terminology. Dancers will learn correct body alignment and posture and work on increased flexibility and range of motion through basic barre work and center exercises.

Learn the beautiful movements of this ancient art form while building strength and self-esteem.

Company Dance encompasses what In Sync Dance and the Kids Helping Kids Foundation is all about. These groups, which consist of three different levels (Junior, Senior, Elite) and five different disciplines of dance (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary) dedicate their time and energy performing throughout the year for a variety of events. Through performance and voluteerism, they represent the Foundation and its mission to provide aid to children and their families who may be less fortunate in the greater Placer County area.

Weekly choreography classes as well as weekly technique classes in each discipline are required. All students are welcome; however auditions are required to participate. If the desire is there, any dancer may participate as the audition process is in place to find the best level/fit for each participant. Lastly, Company Dancers must be available to represent the Kids Helping Kids Foundation at community events.

This class begins with a full body warm up using breath and concentrating on releasing tension and gaining mobility. The following series of exercises focus on strong placement and classical technique that support a contemporary style balancing lyricism, fluidity, and athleticism. The class culminates in longer across the floor phrases and combinations that utilize the strength, body awareness, and the stylistic sensibility built up throughout the class. The dancers preview and learn basics from a variety of different modern dance techniques.

A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip Hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin’, locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Hip Hop is urban, it’s street, it’s diverse and forever changing. The classes are broken down by age and by level.

Based on traditional Irish Folk Dancing. Original ‘River Dance’ style choreography. One year of ballet and tap recommended.

Jazz is an exciting and ever evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and life. The class begins with a center warm up focused on classical principles, strength, range of motion and flexibility. Dancers are given simple to complex locomotor exercises that challenge these principles depending on their age and class level. Dancers are given center combinations of choreography that encourage individual expression and the development of personal style

A 60 minute class that enables a young dancer to get an introduction to two genres of dance. Children will spend 30 minutes learning basic jazz steps and terminology and 30 minutes of tap focusing on basic steps and terminology.

Class for advanced Ballet dancers who are ‘en pointe.’

Designed to prepare dancers for going ‘en pointe.’

This class is for dancer and non-dancer alike. The goal is to dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs. It builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen. It teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. This 60 minute class improves flexibility, agility and range of motion.

A 60 minute class that is designed for the dancer who is new to tap. Dancers will receive an introduction and overview of tap technique and terminology. Dancers will learn basic steps and develop skills in rhythm and syncopation

At each level of tap the dancers will focus on developing skills in tap technique, rhythm, syncopation and coordination. The combinations, steps and rhythms get more advanced and challenging at each level. Improvisation and choreography are important tools students will develop.

Based on Broadway type pieces, plays and skits. Acting, all types of dancing and some vocalization is done in this class.

Fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic workout system designed to be FUN and EASY TO DO! Fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.

Withdrawal must occur within the first 7 days of the month. To withdraw from classes a parent or adult student must:

• 1. Inform studio administration in person, and
• 2. Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the office, one month in advance of discontinuing lessons.

In Sync Dance reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice.

March 1, 2012 is the costume payment deadline for the summer performance tentatively scheduled for late June. It will be critical that In Sync Dance receives all monies and places all orders at this time in order to ensure costumes arrive in ample time to be ready for the shows. In Sync Dance will assist with tailoring and alterations, at no additional cost to parents or students, prior to any performances for those costumes requiring this type of work.

In Sync Dance of Auburn is proud to be considered the finest instructional dance studio in the greater Placer County area. Our program features all dance disciplines, for all ages. But we’ve added a twist! Our Dance Company, currently consisting of approximately 60 youth members, performs year-round in community events throughout the greater Auburn area, plus we offer travel opportunities to specialty events outside our region. Some time ago, we realized the potential GOOD that could be achieved through the efforts of a performance group of this size and reputation. We also realized there was no other youth performance group in our area focused on the same objectives and goals as we strived for. So we went to work on our dream!!!

The Kids Helping Kids Foundation (KHKF) was born; a non-profit organization devoted to helping children and families in need right here in our area. KHKF consists of Company youth performers, their parents, and family members. We are now 200+ members strong and growing, and we welcome new members! Come join us in achieving our community goals and what we stand for. KHKF is dedicated to raising awareness of the Arts in the region while at the same time achieving funding opportunities for a very important cause… children in need right here in our own community. With almost no overhead or administrative expenses – thanks to many dedicated members who bring energy, the spirit of volunteerism, and a variety of resources – all funding raised by the Foundation goes right back into our community.

In Sync Dance has achieved a secondary goal through its efforts, and just as rewarding as our first goal. Our charitable activities and hands-on learning experiences are growing the adults of tomorrow. KHKF is the only local NPO that offers youth performers the chance to give back to the community. Our students are developing a bright future as loving, sharing, giving and responsible community volunteers.

Tuition will be accepted on a monthly basis, ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. Monthly payment plans will require a one-month advance payment, and subsequent payments will be due no later than the 7th of the month, prior to that which is being paid for (i.e., payment for Oct. is due by Sept. 10th). Started in 2002 by Jessie and Kevin Krick at a previous small studio off Palm Avenue in Auburn, their goal was to create an ideal academy in which children could grow, thrive, and work as a team through the art of dance while at the same time learn about the spirit of community volunteerism. Their ideas and dream caught on as enrollement increased beyond the small setting they originally rented, and they soon realized a bigger facility was necessary. In 2008, they moved to their new and larger studio at 4055 Grass Valley Highway. Now with over 2,500 square feet of studio space, four dance rooms, over 60 classes taught each week by eight instructors, and 100+ students coming and going five days a week for lessons, In Sync Dance and The Kids Helping Kids Foundation is the place for kids who wants to learn to dance, audition for Company Dance, or prepare for professional dance in their future.

Studio Director “Miss Jessie,” as she is affectionately referred to by her students, began her ballet training at the age of six. By age 14 she was dancing professionally in both Europe and the United States. For over 25 years now she has instructed countless students in classical style ballet. Her original choreography not only receives rave reviews by her contemporaries and critics in her field of expertise, but is also evidenced by thunderous applause each year at the final bow of In Sync’s annual Spring Ballet and June Show. No child is ever turned away from In Sync Dance. Students not only feel embraced, but make new friends and learn about giving back to their communities, plus all students have the opportunity to receive advanced training if they choose to continue dance as a professional goal. Miss Jessie has inspired many students over the years to continue dance through and beyond college, and as a career.

In Sync Dance and The Kids Helping Kids Foundation is the only NPO in our area that offers children the opportunity to bring the art of dance together with fundraising opportunities that assist children and families in need right in their own communities.
